Fox News, NBC stop airing Trump immigrant ad deemed racist

Will & Grace star Debra Messing criticized NBC for airing the ad, sharing in a tweet to fans that she is "ashamed that my network aired this disgusting racist ad". CNN had refused to run the ad, declaring it "racist", but NBC opted to air it during "Sunday Night Football", a program that's regularly the most watched in America every week.

"After further review, we recognize the insensitive nature of the ad and have chose to cease airing it across our properties as soon as possible", said Joe Benarroch, a spokesperson for NBC's advertising sales department.

And it's not just NBC that has gotten second thoughts about the ad, which depicts asylum seekers trying to gain lawful entry into the United States as potential psychopathic killers - it's Fox News too.

The ad was placed on the popular football broadcast on NBC to encourage voters to choose candidates from Mr Trump's Republican party in midterm elections that will determine whether Republicans retain control of the US Congress.

Iranian marchers chant 'Death to America' on eve of US oil sanctions
It is part of efforts by Iran and its customers to keep oil flowing ahead of a new USA embargo set to hit on Monday. Trump announced the U.S.'s withdrawal from what he described as "the frightful , one-sided" nuclear deal.

"Upon further review, Fox News pulled the ad yesterday and it will not appear on either Fox News Channel or Fox Business Network", Marianne Gambelli, Fox News' president of advertisement sales, told CNN in a statement. I guess they only run fake news and won't talk about real threats that don't suit their agenda. The ad features a Mexican man-Luis Bracamontes-who was convicted of killing two California deputies earlier this year. The ad said Trump and his allies will protect the border and urges viewers to "vote Republican".

In a statement about its own refusal to play the ad, CNN's communications team tweeted that "CNN has made it abundantly clear in its editorial coverage that this ad is racist".

In fact, he was deported and last snuck in when George W. Bush was president, and he was detained but released by former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a Trump favorite who later won a presidential pardon.

Many have compared the caravan commercial to the infamous Willie Horton ad during the 1988 presidential campaign that damaged the prospects of Democratic candidate Michael Dukakis. Facebook's rules bar ads from containing "shocking, sensational, disrespectful or excessively violent content".
