Reports emanating from France surfaced on Monday stating that the former Arsenal boss was in advanced talks with the San Siro side to replace Gennaro Gattuso in the dugout.

The report claimed that the team owners are the ones who are pushing for Wenger to be at the helm and that intense talks have been going on for the past weeks.

Wenger ended his 22-year association with the Gunners back in May, leaving the Emirates as the most successful and long-serving manager in the North London club's history.

Wenger has dismissed those suggestions, however, telling beIN Sports: "The only thing I can say is that it is fake news".

"If I signed somewhere I would tell you, but it's wrong news".

In an interview with Sky Sports, Arsene Wenger has expressed his desire to return to coaching.

Former Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis is also poised to make the switch to Milan and will take up his role at the club in December.

Wenger previously said he planned to make his return in January, but did not rule out taking up a boardroom role or coaching job with an global side.

Wenger rejected the chance to retire from coaching when he left Arsenal, and instead has been enjoying a short hiatus from football.
