CNN's Acosta owes Trump White House staffer an apology

Jim Acosta

The official Twitter account posted a statement which read: "This President's ongoing attacks on the press have gone too far".

Trump tried to move on and call another reporter, as all others reporters only asked one or two questions, but Acosta refused to give up the microphone and began shouting at the president.

"Here we go", Trump said to Acosta.

Acosta questioned him about his rhetoric on immigration during the campaign and his deployment of troops to the US border with Mexico purportedly to stop a so-called "caravan" of migrants.

Acosta persisted, saying: "They are hundreds of miles away".

Mr Trump told him: "CNN should be ashamed of itself having you work for them. You run CNN, and if you did it well, your ratings would be higher", Trump said.

Press secretary Sarah Sanders cited Acosta's brief confrontation with a White House press aide during Trump's new conference as the reason for suspending his press pass "until further notice". "It's a very awful thing that you said".

First, Trump berated Acosta for daring to question the president's characterization of the migrant caravan as an invasion. However, as noted by Acosta and many others, the people travelling within the "caravan" are still hundreds of miles from the U.S.

Trump also accused Acosta of treating Press Secretary Sarah Sanders in a way that was "awful".

In subsequent tweets, he explained that Secret Service agents working at a White House access point asked him to surrender his credential - known as a "hard pass" - to enter the grounds. "This conduct is absolutely unacceptable", Sanders said.

Janet Jackson speaks out for 'women whose voices have been silenced'
In 2017, the former member of the group Fifth Harmony had already received the award for best pop artist at the MTV EMA. The performance was also among the public as hundreds of Marshmello inflated balls flooded the venue for the finale.

"It is also completely disrespectful to the reporter's colleagues not to allow them an opportunity to ask a question", Sanders stated.

Acosta tweeted that this was "a lie".

Various press organizations have chose to chime on the Trump administration's decision to revoke Jim Acosta's hard press pass on Wednesday night.

"They are furious this blue wave was a blue tinkle", Levin said.

Sanders claimed the incident proved Trump's "support for a free press".

But as Acosta pressed on and Alexander stood there, Trump turned back to the CNN reporter.

Later, he criticized PBS reporter Yamiche Alcindor for asking a "racist question". "As long as @realdonaldtrump is our President, I'm not taking a day off".

Ms Alcindor pressed on: "There are some people who say the Republican Party is seen as supporting white nationalists because of your rhetoric".

Acosta, the chief White House correspondent for CNN, says he was stopped by the Secret Service when he tried to re-enter the White House.
