Anthony Martial recalled to France squad after impressive show at Manchester United

Martial was out of favour under Jose Mourinho at United, but he has found his way back into the team in the past month and impressed.

The Frenchman only started one of United's first six Premier League matches this season, but he has now scored five goals in his last four league appearances to help his team recover from a slow start.

He was also named in Didier Deschamps' latest France squad this week having missed out on selection for the World Cup, Les Bleus triumphing without him at Russian Federation 2018.

"I never gave up", Mourinho told the club's official website.

'I knew that for him to become a really top player, he needed to overcome some barriers that I put on the road for him. It is up to his talent, because he has phenomenal talent.

"It was just a question of him understanding what a top player is because there is a big difference between a top talent and a top player".

China, Australia eye better ties
There are also plans to strengthen Australia's defence and security ties with Pacific islands through joint exercises and training.

"It's been a while since he's been in the French team, with good periods and more hard periods", said coach Didier Deschamps of Martial's return to the worldwide fold.

Martial also took advantage of Thomas Lemar's injury to earn a recall.

"What he's now achieving with Manchester United is closer to what he's able to do regularly". I'm talking about commitment and efficiency in front of goal. He has proved that on the pitch by how important he's been for Manchester United for a few weeks already.

"He is getting more mature and it shows on the field".

With that in mind, The Sun report that the Red Devils are now ready to offer Martial a £190,000-a-week contract to keep him at the club for the next five years, and it comes at a time where the talented ace is proving his worth to Jose Mourinho.

He will be hoping to add to his 18 global caps in Rotterdam next Friday and against Uruguay at the Stade de France on November 20.
