Zaman & Afridi star in Pakistan's 6-wkt win over New Zealand

Offspinner Will Somerville has been summoned to the New Zealand test squad after two first-class matches for Auckland

Pakistan bounced back strongly to beat New Zealand by 6 wickets in the second ODI match played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Captain Kane Williamson, who won the toss and elected to bat, was unlucky to get run out when Afridi got finger tips off George Worker's hard drive and the ball smashed onto the stumps at the non-striker's end with Williamson out of his crease.

Taylor and Henry Nicholls (33) tried to rebuild the innings with 75-run stand, but Pakistan never allowed New Zealand to score freely with leg-spinner Shadab Khan conceding just 25 runs off his 10 overs for the wicket of Colin de Grandhomme. It was quite laborious to see the Black Caps reaching 73-3 after 15 overs - a wicket maiden from Afridi put Pakistan in control and showed his ability to beat worldwide batsmen with pace, as a superb yorker sent back Latham.

Ross Taylor was the only form of resistance for the visitors, adding to his 80 from the opening ODI with an unbeaten 86 from 120 balls, but he didn't get the support required as only two other batsmen reached 20, neither in quick time.

Pakistan paceman Shaheen Shah Afridi took 4-38.

Diwali pollution test drive: Better, but not good enough
The quality of air in Pitampura, Airport, Terminal 3 and Delhi University stood at 679, 481 and 801 respectively. Delhi pollution is also expected to remain severe to very severe for the next two days.

He dismissed opener Fakhar Zaman (one), Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez on a duck in the third over.

"He's also a handy batsman down the order, as he showed with his half-century in the most recent round of the Ford Trophy".

Both of them continued to put pressure on New Zealand bowlers.

But Pakistan were in such a dominant position that there was no danger of them losing the match and they edged across the winning line with six wickets and nine and a half overs to spare.

Considering it was a must-win feud for either nation, with Kiwi enjoying a clear-cut lead by a margin of 1-0, it would have been expected from the visiting captain to stay till the end and probably notch a mega-innings by the end of the contest.
