CNN sues Pres. Trump, demanding return of Acosta to White House

The White House was packed with reporters for a rare news conference with the president

The administration revoked them last week following President Trump's contentious news conference, where Acosta refused to give up a microphone when the president said he didn't want to hear anything more from him.

"We have asked this court for an immediate restraining order requiring the pass be returned to Jim, and will seek permanent relief as part of this process", CNN said in a statement.

The New York Times urged the White House to reconsider Thursday in a column by the newspaper's editorial board headlined, "Let Jim Acosta do his job".

Video expert Abba Shapiro that he believes the White House circulated a doctored video of an interaction between CNN reporter Jim Acosta and a White House intern.

In his argument with Mr Acosta, Mr Trump said: "CNN should be ashamed of itself having you work for them".

"I think it's a really strong lawsuit", Floyd Abrams, a noted First Amendment lawyer, told CNN on Sunday.

"I hope I'm not mistaken, but it's my understanding that CNN and Acosta have sued".

'Everything makes no sense' - Andrey Rublev criticizes Next Gen ATP Finals
In the other semi, Tsitsipas, who's ranked No. 15 in the world, beat 2017 runner-up Andrey Rublev 4-3 (3) 3-4 (5) 4-0 2-4 4-3 (2). Stefanos Tsitsipas capped a breakthrough season by winning the Next Gen ATP Finals decider against Alex de Minaur on Saturday.

"While the suit is specific to CNN and Acosta, this could have happened to anyone".

Acosta, whose confrontations often focus on immigration, prolonged their exchange by asking a series of questions about the caravan and President Trump's approach to immigrants. But it is unclear as to why Ms. Sanders, the Press Secretary of White House, chose to post a poor-quality video in her defence when she has access to video recordings of better quality.

A frame-by-frame comparison of the video shows that Sander's clip has been edited to speed up Acosta's arm movement as he touches the woman's arm. In fact, she asked the most pertinent question of the day.

"They don't need to cover a man who is picking fights with them for the objective of turning out his base", [the Democratic strategist] said. He cited several requirements, set by precedent, that the White House should have to meet to revoke a pass, none of which were met. Her statements came about a half hour after Diamond and Silk, two YouTube-based Trump supporters, advocated that Acosta's badge be pulled during an appearance on the Fox Business channel.

The White House has never before revoked a "hard pass" as a outcome of a reporter doing his or her job. "I think that as a matter of press freedom, the press corps in the room should say, 'If you've redefined the rules to hand out passes only to those whose coverage you don't object to, we're all leaving.' This isn't principally a legal question".
