Microsoft Reveals Purchase of InXile Entertainment

Wasteland 2

During Microsoft's X018 event in Mexico City, the company announced that it has acquired two more game development studios: Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment. InXile's Brian Fargo said joining Microsoft allows the studio to tap into the "incredible Microsoft ecosystems that is second to none". The team at inXile has earned a distinguished reputation for creating deep, engaging role-playing games. Well, it looks like Wasteland 3 and The Bard's Tale IV, will still be multiplatform, but Inxile stated that beyond those titles, they are not sure. With Xbox Game Pass, new streaming technology and a focused ecosystem of consoles in addition to all the recent hiring of talent through recent studio purchases, Microsoft is laying one hell of a foundation for the road ahead. Its latest project, Wasteland 3, is expected to launch in 2019.

Microsoft is now the owner of 13 game studios, a clear indication of its desire to be able to produce a large number of exclusive titles for its Xbox and Windows 10 platforms.

Palestinians and Israeli Soldier Killed in Gaza Clashes
Israel and Hamas have fought three wars since 2008, but both sides have shown that they want to avoid another full scale conflict. Ten launches from Gaza towards Israel were identified and two were intercepted by Israeli missile defences, the army said.

The developer of Wasteland 2 joins Microsoft Studios and bolsters the Xbox team with some serious RPG cred. "They will continue to operate autonomously and bring their unique talents, IP, and expertise to Microsoft Studios as they build new RPG experiences for our players and fans". Even when it was just a rumor, the acquisition found a prominent critic in writer Chris Avellone, who left Obsidian in 2015 but helped write Fallout: New Vegas, Knights of the Old Republic II as well as older RPG classics like Fallout 2.

Below, you can find a tweet from Inxile Entertainment addressing the issue.
