Trump threatens to revoke more reporters' press credentials

Jim Acosta

Donald Trump has denied suggestions that a White House-released video depicting contact between a staffer and a CNN reporter was not altered, and he seemingly threatened to revoke the White House press credentials of more reporters.

The suspension comes after a heated confrontation Wednesday between Acosta and President Donald Trump during a news conference.

Last week, the White House suspended Acosta's press pass, after the reporter asked the president about his language surrounding the migrant caravan heading to the U.S. border.

Saturday Night Live tackled the recent controversy over the removal of CNN's Jim Acosta's credentials on "Weekend Update", as a "White House intern" appeared on the show and snatched co-anchor Colin Jost's pencil.

President Donald Trump continued his ugly attacks on the press during a media gaggle on the White House lawn on Friday morning, smearing one reporter as a "loser", denouncing another CNN journalist's perfectly reasonable question about the Russian Federation investigation as "stupid", and imperiously threatening to revoke the credentials of members of the media who don't show him sufficient "respect". It also prompted the White House to suspend his hard pass.

He then demanded a White House aide to remove the reporter's microphone, as the journalist persisted in his attempt to ask the question to Trump.

Below, the pair claims that Clinton will reinvent herself as a liberal firebrand to "easily capture the 2020 nomination". Recode's Kara Swisher asked her during a Q&A session."No, no", Clinton replied, prompting laughter.

Just as ravenously, Trump supporters want the president to take the media to the mat. "But she's very nasty, and she shouldn't be". Trump's insults "are nothing new". "When you're in the White House, this is a very sacred place to me".

Acosta went beyond probing about the president's "enemy of the people" remarks and seemed to challenge Sanders to list outlets and journalists that the White House thought fit that description. "I don't think he's a smart person but he has a loud voice", Mr Trump told reporters in a testy 20-plus-minute exchange before he left for Paris and a First World War commemoration ceremony. "I mean, you talk about somebody that's a loser, she doesn't know what the hell she's doing".

The CNN reporter Acosta said: "But your campaign had an ad showing migrants climbing over walls".

"In fact, she asked the most pertinent question of the day. The way you treat other people is terrible!" The way you treat Sarah Sanders is disgusting.

Mar 5, 2018. Earlier this year, Acosta complained that Sanders didn't give him enough opportunities to ask questions.

But Storyful, a social media intelligence agency that specialises in video, say its analysis shows the clip "contains extra frames that do not appear in the C-SPAN broadcast of the event". He said she was rude for interrupting another reporter, though he did briefly answer one of Ryan's questions.
