Victims of Camp Fire Sue PG&E for Allegedly Causing Deadly Blaze

Waldbrände Kalifornien

In northern California, the death toll from the Camp Fire reached 46 after more human remains were recovered.

President Trump has approved an expedited request for a disaster declaration for the California fires, saying he wanted "to respond quickly in order to alleviate some of the incredible suffering going on".

Hours after mandatory evacuations were lifted in Hidden Hills and some surrounding areas, residents of eastern Malibu are being allowed to return to their homes tonight.

More than 5,000 firefighters battling the blaze made gains overnight, slowing the flames' advance toward Oroville, a town of about 19,000 people. The team used synthetic aperture radar images taken by the European Space Agency's Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellites, which orbit from a height of 693 kilometers.

The news comes as the massive Woolsey Fire closes in on 100,000 acres burned. The color variation from yellow to red indicates ground surface damage.

As of Monday evening, the fire was only 30 percent contained and Cal Fire predicted full containment would be reached on November 30.

CNN sues Pres. Trump, demanding return of Acosta to White House
He cited several requirements, set by precedent, that the White House should have to meet to revoke a pass, none of which were met.

More than 130,000 acres of land are still burning in Butte County as officials said almost 6,000 firefighting personnel continue to assist in the area, where 35 percent of the fire was contained.

In Southern California, the Woolsey Fire has claimed two lives and charred more than 150 square miles - an area larger than the size of Denver. "Firefighters actively fought the fire and worked aggressively".

The dead were found in burned-out cars, in the smouldering ruins of their homes, or next to their vehicles, apparently overcome by smoke and flames before they could jump in behind the wheel and escape.

Plaintiff's attorney Mike Danko said although a cause hasn't been determined, "this time we have pretty good evidence" that PG&E is responsible. It broke out south of the Camp Fire in Ventura County.

While the causes of the Camp and Woolsey fires have not been determined, state regulators are investigating two utility companies that reported incidents shortly before the two fires started.

There are almost 3,600 fire personnel fighting the Woolsey fire.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office has identified four of the victims, publicly naming three.

The fires have killed 31 people as of Monday morning.
