2.0 box office collection: Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer may become a ‘flop’

2.0 Slows Down

On opening day (Thursday), 2.0 collected 64 crores NBOC (Nett Box Office Collection) and 82 crores GBOC (Gross Box Office Collection). The occupancy rates in the Hindi belt were better than the opening day which helped the mega-budget to do good collection. On its second day, the film didn't witness a major drop in its numbers and continued to rule at the box office, according to reliable trade sources.

Trade analyst and film critic Girish Johar tweeted, "Very Very #EarlyTrends suggest a minor fall in Day 2 BO for #2Point0. roughly 10ish% aprox decline.getting various trends for all 3 langs / formats". The film had seen good hype building for it during last fortnight or so and that reflected in steady footfalls on the first day of release.

However, the movie, which was tipped to beat the box-office records of Director SS Rajamouli's monumental epic Baahubali-2 The Conclusion released in 2017, fell way short of the period film's first-day gross collection of approximately ₹155 crore.

The film relies heavily on VFX to bring to life images, like a giant eagle or a fight between two huge robots who look like Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. The film is also likely to have a free run at the CBO till Adanga Maru hits the screens on December 21, 2018. India biz. Note: "HINDI version".

The sci-fi drama will see Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.
