O2 investigating UK-wide network outages

United Kingdom customers have reported not being able to use mobile data to access the internet and other services on the company's network.

These include subsidiary Giff Gaff, and third-party networks, notably GiffGaff, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile and Lycamobile.

Thousands of O2 customers have not been able to get online on Thursday morning following a technical fault with the network.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Our technical teams are investigating reports of issues when using data. We apologise for any inconvenience". Voice calls are working OK.

Users of O2 services, who were unable to access the internet or apps that require an internet connection, poured onto social media to complain about the outage. "We are really sorry and working as hard and as fast as we can to fix this".

Child killed when football team's bus crashes in Arkansas
The bus was carrying a youth football team from the Memphis area that had played in a championship game in Dallas. One child was reported as dying in the accident, while some 45 other people were reportedly injured in the crash.

In addition, London Bus timetables rely on O2's coverage, meaning that these were also down this morning.

Customers have been encouraged to use WiFi whenever possible if they need internet access before the problems have been fixed.

Some users have also reported problems with making voice calls, despite claims from O2 that voice services are unaffected.

The most recent update of their progress was provided on the O2 UK Twitter account just after 12pm, it said that they are working closely with the 3rd party suppliers to try and fix the problem.
