Shocking article says Priyanka's love marriage is 'scam'

Lifestyle by Bushra Nayeem | Published

One of the reasons that Priyanka climbed up the list on Thursday is because she added Nick Jonas' surname to hers on Instagram.

Diamonds truly are Priyanka Chopra's best friend-especially during her wedding to Nick Jonas held December 1 at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India. While everyone was in a celebratory mode, an article on New York's magazine, The Cut, blew everyone's mind! The Cut is known for its liberal views on women.

So, when The Cut, an overseas magazine, published a downright distasteful article slamming the actress, calling her a "modern-day scam artiste" and accusing her of faking love for the global pop-sensation, it instantly received a lot of backlash and hatred from across the globe.

After tumults of backlash, the magazine updated the article and later deleted it.

The publication faced widespread criticism by Bollywood celebrities and fans on social media.

Shocking article says Priyanka's love marriage is 'scam'

The author alleged that Chopra has a team that helps pair her with Hollywood bachelors, particularly famous white men, to boost her career. The archived article concluded: "At times, marriage can be a beautifully wonderful union that warms even the coldest of hearts, but sadly, this union evokes no such feeling". Racism and sexism has no place in the modern world and should be called out immediately. "Congratulations, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas". @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words.

"Love you both": Meanwhile, Nick's brother Joe welcomed Priyanka into the family with a sweet Instagram message.

Sophie too wrote: "This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting". 'Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bulls-t'.

"Upon further editorial review, we found this story did not meet our standards", the editorial note now reads. Currently, the article's page contains an apology. The whole piece missed the mark.

TV Guide features editor Krutika Mallikarjuna noted that a good portion of the piece "was based on a lack of understanding of hindu wedding ceremonies and looking at the cultural norms of millions of people as weird and something that needs to be forced on other people". "We've removed it and apologize", The Cut tweeted.
