Nationwide CenturyLink internet outage affects Kansas

Thousands of customers around the country, including Louisiana and Wyoming, are still experiencing outages Friday morning, according to Newsweek.

CRESA said it received reports from first responders in the field about individuals who were not aware of the outage or how to reach 911.

Some CenturyLink customers across the country were without the internet as outages stretched from NY to California.

According to a CenturyLink status page, the outage began at around 12pm ET on December 27, and work started on resolving the issue at around 7am ET today, although not all services have been restored just yet.

The county's 311 service appeared to be unaffected, the agency said, and its 911 text message service also still functions.

N. Korea to keep momentum for dialogue through New Year's speech
The ministry plans to expand the definition of enemy to include the phrase, "Every force that threatens South Korea is an enemy".

Residents in Clark County, Washington were not alerted of widespread 911 outages through a wireless emergency alert system until nearly three hours after the county's emergency services agency appeared to have first acknowledged its 911 center phone lines were compromised. The outage has continued into Friday, prompting FCC chairman Ajit Pai to issue a statement calling for an investigation into the company's response. The outage affected only wireless 911 calls, not landline calls, CNN affiliate WBZ reported.

At around 4 or 5 a.m., Lewis County 911 Communications posted to Facebook saying: "911 lines are working again".

"We apologize for the inconvenience w/ multiple alerts", CRESA tweeted.

CenturyLink didn't provide details of the problem and it didn't indicate how many customers were affected.
