The almost one-minute-long video opens to show the man, later identified as Daniel Taylor, 40, arguing with the employee standing behind the counter.

As per the report, the law took effect just last January 1 and prohibits restaurants from having straws available in the open in the hopes of completely banning them by 2020.

The 54-second clip shows a white male customer reach across the counter and grab a Black female employee by her shirt, prompting the young woman to deliver several blows to the customer's head. An onlooker recorded the video and posted in online.

Taylor asked for a refund according to the police report but was later arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery.

A St. Petersburg, Florid, a McDonald's customer has been arrested after starting (and handily losing) a brawl with a female restaurant employee over plastic straws.

Other employees were slow to react but eventually separated the two.

On New Year's Eve, Taylor, 40, with no permanent address, started arguing with James who was waiting on him at the fast food counter. When he noticed there were none, she says he began screaming at the employees.

Our reporters have spoken to the McDonald's employee Yasmine James who tells us she has not been fired following this incident, as rumors circulating on social media claim. "He reached across and tried to grab her and hit her", she said.

Netflix warns against doing 'Bird Box' meme challenge
People are even doing 24-hour challenges and documenting it all. "The only Bird Box challenge that should exist", she wrote. Netflix responded on Twitter today telling folks not to get hurt, but thanking them for their love of the movie.

In addition to the McDonald's victim featured in the now-viral video, the man allegedly attacked another worker.

"I don't know what was in his mind so but I just hope you get help that he needs", said Biandudi.

She fought back, punching him on the arm and pulling his shirt.

Despite giving it her best shot, James said she was injured and was "receiving worker's compensation".

A representative of the St Petersburg Police Department told Yahoo Lifestyle that the security tape is not being released at this stage of the investigation.

"Our highest priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants". "The young girl said she used to box".

"I felt it was so disrespectful to talk to an employee like that and belittle her like that", Biandudi said.
