Benjamin Pavard's performances for France at the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation were said to have caught the attention of Bayern Munich chiefs.

Bayern Munich have confirmed that Benjamin Pavard will leave Stuttgart at the end of the current season to join the Bavarians on a long-term contract.

The 22-year-old now plays for Bundesliga rivals VfB Stuttgart and was involved in France's 2018 World Cup final victory over Croatia in Russian Federation, a tournament where he also scored a stunning goal in the Round of 16 win over Argentina.

"He is young and a world champion, so we are happy and proud to have won over such a player", said Bayern's sports director Hasan Salihamidzic at their winter training camp in Doha.
