CNN is not reporting the woman's name because she is the victim of sexual abuse.

"She was not in a position to give consent", Thompson said of the mother, calling her a "helpless victim who was sexually assaulted".

PHOENIX (AP) - Police have served a search warrant to get DNA from all male employees at a long-term care facility in Phoenix where a patient who was in a vegetative state for years gave birth, triggering reviews by state agencies and putting a spotlight on safety concerns for severely disabled or incapacitated patients.

Sgt Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix police department said potential suspects were not limited to Hacienda employees, but would not confirm if DNA evidence would be obtained from visitors to the centre. They are gathering DNA samples from the facility's male staffers and have appealed to the public for any information.

"The woman and the baby were transported to a local hospital and at this time, both the mother and the baby are recovering".

It is believed the woman was left in a coma after a near drowning incident when she was 15. "Those things are shocking to me", she said.

Thompson told PEOPLE, "It's my impression that the staff there had no clue that this lady was having a baby", adding that she was "quite a ways along" before she had a natural birth.

Hacienda HealthCare said they accepted DNA testing of its employees and will cooperate with officials.

Hacienda HealthCare, who run the facility where the woman was attacked backed the development, saying: 'As a company, we welcome this development in the ongoing police investigation'.

Australia: Man Arrested Over Suspicious Consulate Packages
More than a dozen foreign offices received suspicious packages on Wednesday, including the US and British missions in Melbourne. An incident was also listed at the South Melbourne building where the Consulate General of Turkey is based.

"I am deeply shocked and horrified at the treatment of one of our members".

"When you have a loved one committed to palliative care, when they are most vulnerable and dependent upon others, you trust their caretakers", Rambler said in the statement.

"Sadly, one of her caretaker was not to be trusted and took advantage of her.it is my hope that justice will be served".

The development comes a day after the company's CEO Bill Timmons resigned following reports a patient in one of Hacienda's facilities in a 14-year-long state of vegetation gave birth December 29.

"The family obviously is outraged, traumatized and in shock by the abuse and neglect of their daughter at Hacienda HealthCare", the family's attorney, John Micheaels said.

Founded as Hacienda de Los Angeles in 1967, Hacienda HealthCare describes itself on its website as "the leading provider of specialized medical care and social services for Arizona's infants, children and young adults who are medically fragile or chronically ill, including those with developmental disabilities".

Phoenix police have said little about the investigation, and did not immediately respond to HuffPost's request for comment.

Alejandro Benally, Chief of the San Carlos Apache Police Department also had a statement included in the letter, "At this point, this matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Phoenix Police Department". The onset of labor doesn't require a mom knowing she's going through it, says Dr. Greves.
