From the outside looking in, it appears that the situation regarding Metro Exodus's PC exclusivity was a matter outside of THQ Nordic's control, despite them being the now-parent company of Koch Media and Deep Silver.
Epic Games and Deep Silver today announced in a blog post that they've formed a partnership, meaning the digital version of Metro Exodus on PC will now be an Epic Games Store exclusive.
The news comes not long after Valve's public complaint about publisher Deep Silver's decision to remove Exodus from Steam - a decision 4A Games confirmed was taken by the publisher, and not themselves. True enough, in such a short period, the Epic Games Store has managed to score another point over Steam. By teaming up with Epic, Deep Silver will "be able to invest more into the future of Metro". As such, Exodus will cost a mere $50 on Epic's store - $10 cheaper than it was on Steam. On the Epic Games Store, the game will cost $49.99, it will come with a soundtrack and digital art book if you pre-order.
The Epic Games store is continuing to pose a threat as another big Triple A game has made a decision to move away from Steam.
How cold is too cold to have school?
Wind chills could reach beyond the -30 degree mark. "If we must close schools, the makeup day will be Wednesday, March 6". The district does have cold weather guidelines if school is still held in cold weather.
After this year - i.e. on February 14, 2020 - Metro Exodus will be arriving on the Steam storefront, although customers who have already pre-ordered the title on this platform will have their orders honored.
In its announcement, Deep Silver CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz explained that the move from Steam to Epic had to do with the revenue earnings allocated between developers and the distributing platform, saying that "Epic's generous revenue terms are a game changer that will allow publishers to invest more into content creation, or pass on savings to the players".
"Later today, sales of Metro Exodus will be discontinued on Steam due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store", reads a notice on the game's Steam page. "We apologize to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale through the February 15th release date, but we were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know".
This is another disheartening blow to die-hard users of Steam, and generally anyone who doesn't want to have so many game launchers on their PC.
