The 91st annual Academy Awards will officially forgo a host on Hollywood's biggest night later this month, according to ABC's new entertainment chief Karey Burke, whose network will broadcast the ceremony. In the wake of Kevin Hart stepping down from the ceremony due to homophobic jokes/tweets, The Rock's name has been floated by many.

After Kevin Hart stepped down from hosting the 2019 Oscars, ABC has yet to announce a replacement host for the Academy Awards ceremony.

The Rock posted the following response to a fan question about him potentially hosting the ceremony next year, saying his Jumanji shooting schedule prevented him from hosting the show this year.

Since Hart is shooting the Jumanji sequel as well, the same movie Johnson said conflicted with his ability to host the Oscars, it's possible Hart was scheduled to start shooting at a later date.

France recalls Italy envoy after ‘outrageous’ verbal onslaught from Rome
The verbal sparring has only intensified since with Salvini calling Macron a "terrible president" last month in a Facebook video. February 2019: France recalls its ambassador to Italy, accusing Rome of "repeated accusations" and "unfounded attacks".

This year, Oscars 2019, will not have an official host and the president of ABC Entertainment confirmed the news.

"I have found that the lack of clarity around the Oscars has kept the Oscars in the conversation and that the mystery has been really compelling".

Burke said the decision was taken after what she called "the messiness" over the Hart withdrawal and an attempt to revive his chances. "People really care", she said.

Instead of a single host, the Oscars will feature numerous presenters, including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jennifer Lopez, Whoopi Goldberg, and Brie Larson, among others. Specifically, he's away filming the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel. In fact, the last time the Oscars had no host, it was a complete disaster. "At no time in history have there been three movies nominated for Best Picture each having grossed over $200 million [at the box office]", she explained.
