Joe Schmidt is reluctant to replace Ireland half backs

Former Stormers lock Quinn Roux will start for Ireland against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.

The only other change sees Sean O'Brien favoured over Leinster teammate Josh van der Flier at flanker.

Partnering Bundee Aki in the center of the pitch, will be Munster's Chris Farrell.

Ireland's defence of their Grand-Slam title ended at the first hurdle last weekend going down to a comprehensive 20-32 defeat to their English counterparts in Aviva Stadium.

Schmidt said of Chris Farrell's starting berth: "Robbie [Henshaw] has a dead leg and just hasn't recovered in time".

DA Quinn to Request Full Prison Term for Michelle Carter
Carter was originally sentenced to 15 months in jail but has remained free while pursuing her appeals. Carter's defense attorneys are now considering whether to appeal Wednesday's ruling to the U.S.

However, injury has ruled the 25-year-old out altogether. "He stepped in once previous year and got man of the match and he's a guy who's getting back to form after the long lay-off he had".

"It's massive", captain Rory Best said of losing Toner on Friday.

"We're just going to have to forge ahead, but it's an exciting opportunity to give Chris Farrell a run against Scotland".

Maitland - who has four Heineken Champions Cup tries from five appearances this season - will form a familiar back three with Glasgow Warriors wing Tommy Seymour and full-back Stuart Hogg, with the trio combining for the 18th time for Scotland. Roux failed to make the cut for Ireland's initial Six Nations squad, but has since leapfrogged provincial team-mate Ultan Dillane, who takes a seat on the bench.

Toner's ankle injury has exacerbated the absences at lock of Iain Henderson with a finger problem and Tadhg Beirne with knee trouble.
