It seems Olympics going on to ridicule me: PM Modi

Narendra Modi arrives to attend the Beating the Retreat ceremony in New Delhi

China on Saturday "firmly opposed" Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Arunachal Pradesh, asserting that it has never recognised the sensitive border state and the Indian leadership should refrain from any action that may "complicate the boundary question".

Reacting sharply to China's remarks, the government said, "Indian leaders visit Arunachal Pradesh from time to time, as they visit other parts of India".

Despite recent efforts to improve bilateral ties in both countries, disputes over the mountainous Indo-China border - which triggered a war in 1962 - and the region that China claims as southern Tibet have remained a sensitive issue.

"This consistent position has been conveyed to Chinese side on several occasions", said a spokesperson from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren enters 2020 presidential race
Warren did not address the potential for another distracting revelation when asked by reporters on Capitol Hill this week. Warren has two children from a marriage prior to her 1980 union with husband Bruce Mann, a Harvard law professor.

He will also lay the foundation-stone through remote control system for construction of a coastal terminal of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited at Krishnapatnam in SPS Nellore district.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said February 10 would be a "bad day" and a "dark day" for the state and asked the TDP cadre to sport yellow and black shirts besides releasing black and yellow balloons into the sky as a mark of protest against the prime minister's visit. At his Tripura rally, PM also patted the back of the Biplab Deb government of Tripura, where the BJP formed government in 2018 after 25 years of Left rule.

The strong public reaction from the Chinese government came despite the leaders of two countries, PM Modi and President Xi Jinping, having met four times previous year, most recently on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Buenos Aires in December.

"Our regular interactions have added significant strength to India-China ties", he had said. Chinese forces had tried to build a road on the Doklam plateau in Bhutan in 2017 which was stopped by the Indian Army leading to a 2-month long standoff between the 2 countries. He also dedicated new DD Channel for Arunachal Pradesh - DD Arun Prabha at IG Park, Itanagar & laid a foundation stone for a permanent campus of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) at Jote, Arunachal Pradesh.
