Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey will join Juventus next season

Arsenal's Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey celebrates scoring his team's third goal during their English Premier League match against Fulham at the Emirates Stadium in London

Juventus said the signing will incur "additional costs" of €3.7 million (£3.24m) to be paid by July 10.

The 28-year-old had been in talks with the Gunners over a new deal for several months, but the club withdrew their offer in October, leaving the midfielder free to discuss a move away from north London.

The Welshman has agreed to a four-year contract and his salary will raise to 21 million euros per season.

With that in mind, it's not that hard to see, despite reported approaches from Paris St-Germain and Barcelona, why Ramsey has chosen to leave the north London club for Italy.

The contract will be effective as of July 1 and will expire on June 30, 2023, Juventus said in a statement.

Over the past decade he has played 256 Premier League games, scoring 38 top-flight goals, and winning three FA Cup and two Community Shield. You welcomed me as a teenager and have been there for me through all the highs and lows I have encountered during my time at the club.

Arsenal also released a statement, thanking Ramsey for his time at the club saying: "Aaron's made a fantastic contribution to our club since joining from Cardiff City in 2008".

"I will continue to give the team 100% and hope to finish the season strongly, before heading on to my next chapter in Turin".
