Here's Your First Look at Will Smith as the Genie in 'Aladdin'

Disney included a look at Will Smith's Genie, which movie and Disney buffs have been waiting to see. Mena Massoud stars as the street-rat-with-a-heart-of-gold Aladdin, with Naomi Scott as the lovely and determined Princess Jasmine.

Smith himself recognized the challenge of taking on the role of Genie in the wake of Williams, who was a major draw for the original film.

Other members of the cast, led by director Guy Ritchie, include Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, along with Marwan Kenzari, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen and Numan Acar.

Rare tiger kills prospective mate in London at first meeting
Keepers eventually were able to shepherd Asim into a separate paddock so that they could safely get to Melati, the zoo said. Any tiger introduction is "high risk", the zoo noted, so the deadly result, while not ideal, was a realistic possibility.

The new trailer debuts the character of Genie, who is portrayed by Will Smith.

In December, Smith reassured fans that "I'm gonna be BLUE!" after an Entertainment Weekly cover showed him in costume in human form. Smith posted on his Instagram page. The publicity photo above looks a little more polished.

One Disney exec told EW that Will's Genie is part Fresh Prince and part Hitch. "He was big enough to feel like a force - not so muscular that he looked like he was counting his calories, but formidable enough to look like you knew when he was in the room". For his part, Smith said, "I think it'll stand out as unique even in the Disney world".
