Where's Mendy? City star has last laugh on day of mystery

Benjamin Mendy has missed most of the season through injury

"I have to install Instagram on my account".

Social media funnyman Benjamin Mendy (also a professional footballer) appeared to have been in hot water with his manager for a short while on Friday.

Benjamin Mendy issued a hilarious response to Guardiola following the incident.

Guardiola added: "Wow I didn't know that".

Asked if it would be OK if Mendy was in Hong Kong, Guardiola said: "Hong Kong, definitely not".

Guardiola replied, "Well before, he said "I'm going one day to Paris".OK, but Hong Kong is far away". "Fuck, he's a lucky guy!"

Guardiola, however, was caught by surprise when a reporter brought this to his attention, but appeared to see the amusing side.

Mendy is sidelined with a knee injury and will not be available for City's next game at home to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday. "[It's not okay to be in] Hong Kong, definitely not".

That was the question on everyone's lips at Manchester City on Friday.

Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker Infuriates House Dems at Hearing
"Stone's either indictments or arrest before it was made - that information was available to the public", Whitaker said . Collins exclaimed. "This hearing is not about what the good men and women of the Department of Justice are doing".

Mendy had been in Barcelona on Thursday for assessment on his knee, on which he underwent surgery in November, with City's preferred specialist Dr Ramon Cugat.

Asking the press officer next to him, Guardiola said, "Did you know?"

Pep continued: "Yesterday he was in Barcelona".

"It's not that if you start training in two days you are fit".

The City boss was then asked whether Mendy's condition was the reason behind him travelling to Hong Kong to which he seemed puzzled suggesting that the left-back would be in trouble if that was the case.

Guardiola's comical reaction to Mendy's whereabouts soon vent viral with the hashtag #WhereIsMendy trending on social media.

Mendy then took to Twitter and claimed it was a joke. "I don't want no problems Pep".

He came on as a substitute during City's recent Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Burton Albion but has since suffered a setback in his recovery.
