The White House plan doesn't include any funding details.

The U.S.is the global leader in AI technology right now, but other countries are catching up fast.

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing federal agencies to prioritize research and development in artificial intelligence.

Aimed at bolstering American leadership in AI, the initiative features a "multi-pronged approach" that is categorized into five key pillars: research and development, AI infrastructure, AI governance, workforce and worldwide engagement.

Ivanka Trump and Chris Liddell, a former Microsoft Corp. chief financial officer who is now a deputy chief of staff to the president, planned to attend the signing ceremony, according to a statement the White House issued in advance. America is a bit late to the game when it comes to government action, falling behind countries like China, Canada, and France who have pledged millions of dollars and jobs to foster research and innovation. The administration says it's up to Congress to appropriate money.

Linehan replaced him, and the duo combined to complete under 50 percent of their passes while throwing a pair of interceptions. Former Alabama star Trent Richardson tallied a rushing touchdown for Birmingham in the victory.

The order calls for making federal data and computing resources more accessible to researchers, and for federal government agencies to use fellowships and training programs to prepare workers to operate in positions that utilize artificial intelligence.

The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will be in charge of determining the technical guidelines to establish "reliable, robust, trustworthy, secure, portable, and interoperable AI systems".

One critic says the plan doesn't do enough to address potential displacement of US workers in the coming years.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday directing the USA government to prioritize artificial intelligence in its research and development spending, the White House said.

"Continued American leadership in Artificial Intelligence is of paramount importance to maintaining the economic and national security of the United States", Trump said.
