Derby boss Lampard plays down talks of Chelsea return

Liverpool

Chelsea suffered their worst-ever Premier League defeat at City on Sunday and Sarri is now the bookmakers' favourite to become the next Premier League manager to be sacked, with Lampard and Zinedine Zidane the favourites to replace him.

The forward equalled Alan Shearer's record of 11 Premier League hat-tricks and nearly became City's top goalscorer in the league.

He added: "What City do - blowing teams away, scoring so early, the football that they play - you could argue that is the best football to watch".

The Reds are now sat in second place but are only behind Manchester City on goal difference with a game in hand.

The one advantage City does have in their race for the Premier League title is their squad depth.

Paul Scholes appointed new Oldham Athletic manager
Speaking about the appointment, Oldham owner Abdallah Lemsagam said: "Paul has won everything there is to win in football ". He added: "That is part of the thing that bugged me a little bit".

Both players' form will play a great part in deciding the fate of the title at the end of the season.

"Sometimes you can win games not playing your best".

The Guardian reports that the Italian's future will be decided by the upcoming fixtures in the month of February; a Europa League clash against Malmo, the Carabao Cup finals against Manchester City, an FA Cup clash against Manchester United and a league match up with Tottenham. It would be almost impossible for the Citizens to complete the quadruple, and even though they might have wanted to prioritize the FA Cup over the Carabao Cup, they are already in the Carabao Cup final next week against Chelsea, a team they just destroyed 6-0 in one of the most resounding wins in recent Premier League history. I think he's got very interesting technical qualities, he's got very handsome vision, but he needs to speed up.

Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit is baffled by manager Maurizio Sarri's use of N'Golo Kante. "We conceded more chances than usual, but I think the victory is fair", Pochettino said.
