Cook, who was behind a nameplate bearing his name, was sitting next to Trump at the time when the president said this: "We really appreciate it very much, Tim Apple".

Trump said: "We're going to be opening up the labor forces, because we have to".

Being the United States president is a tiring task - countless meetings, calls, emails, policy-making sessions and ceremonies come and go daily.

"I mean, you've put a really big investment in our country".

The US President during a meeting in Washington DC on Wednesday referred to Apple CEO, Tim Cook as "Tim Apple".

"Tim Apple" was trending on Twitter on Thursday. We have to bring people in.

Trump has a habit of fluffing names" he called Nepal "Nipple", Bhutan "Button" and Namibia "Nambia'. We want them to be people based on merit.

But a moment that was perhaps more cringeworthy than Trump calling him "Tim Apple" was when Trump addressed him as "a friend".

"Do you suppose Trump called Tim Cook, "Tim Apple" because he can't fathom the decision to not name your business after yourself?" another user wrote.

Last year, he introduced Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson as "Marilyn Lockheed" at an event. It is safe to assume that everyone in the meeting should have an idea on who he is, including Trump.

Cook used his time at the meeting to tout the importance of learning how to code software and Apple's efforts to help train students and other people on how to do that.

The pair were meeting to discuss eduction and jobs in tech as part of the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board.
