Huawei P30 Pro confirmed to come with a periscope zoom camera

Huawei P30 Pro confirmed to come with a periscope zoom camera

The Huawei P20 series' success could be largely attributed to the imaging capabilities of the P20 Pro and it seems that the upcoming P30 Pro would significantly improve upon that. The company says it will come with revolutionary technology and we can't wait to hear more about it when the phone is unveiled on March 26.

OPPO showcased a similar prototype at the MWX 2019 event with a square shaped module featuring 10x zoom. This means there should be no loss in quality when scaling images up.

The company has been teasing videos on social media which hinted at the availability of the big new feature on the P30 Pro. Huawei's marketing executive, Clement Wong, has confirmed that the phone will have a periscope zoom camera.

Last month, Huawei CEO Richard Yu shared the first teaser image from the P30 Pro - a photograph showing the moon in great detail. The device is expected to be powered by Huawei's own Kirin 980 processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage options.

He adds that this is simply based on what he's seen so far, that available configurations may vary based on country and color, and that other variants may also be available, so don't read too much into this.

Our knowledge of the Huawei isn't all due to leaks though; a lot we know about the P30 comes from having reviewed and used the Mate 20 Pro (which, in our opinion, is still the best phone out there at the moment).

Like the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, the next-generation flagship appears to have the same gradient effect on the rear case and all-screen design with a notch to house the front-facing camera, speaker grill, and ambient light and proximity sensor. The rumors also suggest that the smartphone may feature an indisplay fingerprint sensor just like its predecessor.
