Tucker Carlson Responds to Radio Controversy

Tucker Carlson host of

His response? To say he'd been "naughty" and invite any critics on his show.

Tucker Carlson responded Sunday night to the discovery of controversial and off-color comments he made during conversations with a radio "shock jock" between 2006 and 2011, urging people who wanted to know more about what he thought to watch his primetime program on Fox News Channel. "A$3 rranging a marriage between a 16-year-old and a 27-year-old is not the same as pulling a stranger off the street and raping her", he says on the tape. "The rapist, in this case, has made a lifelong commitment to live and take care of the person, so it is a little different".

Between 2006 and 2011, Carlson reportedly called into the "Bubba The Love Sponge" show for about an hour each week. "Misogynistic and perverted" is how Media Matters describes them, but Carlson is unapologetic.

In the 2007 recordings, Carlson said of women: "They're extremely primitive, they're basic, they're not that hard to understand".

"This is not just a domestic issue here that we need to get better on ― this is a national security issue", he argued, contending that societies that promote women's rights don't face issues with extremism. Some wrote to Carlson's advertisers directly on Twitter, asking why they were supporting the conservative host. During other segments, he described socialite Paris Hilton and pop singer Britney Spears as "two of the biggest white whores in America", and called Alexis Stewart, the daughter of Martha Stewart, "c*nty".

Ireland vs France - Report - Six Nations 2019 - 10 Mar, 2019
Speaking after Ireland's impressive win over France, Best said that a similar showing in Wales next week will not be good enough. Asked if he will miss being on the touchline in Dublin, Schmidt told Virgin Media: "Immensely, immensely".

In May 2010, Carlson said he felt sorry for Kagan, then a Supreme Court nominee, who was "never going to be an attractive woman". "I feel sorry for unattractive women". He also called her "anti-penis".

The audio from Media Matters swiftly went viral. By late Sunday, Carlson was trending on Twitter with more than 22,000 mentions, many slamming the host as "sexist" and condemning his views.

"Shame on you", actress and activist Alyssa Milano tweeted, tagging Carlson.

Some of the most troubling comments for Tucker Carlson include the following. The host also did not apologize then.

Fox News has yet to release an official statement addressing the matter. The Fox commentator is under fire for past audio clips that have surfaced where Carlson makes a number of comments that are drawing ire across the nation. It's unknown if this will change should the backlash against Carlson continue to increase.
