Elizabeth Warren Drags Facebook After Her Anti-Facebook Ads Pulled From Platform

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

A Facebook spokesman couldn't confirm to HuffPost exactly when the company took down the ads but said they were back up on the website as of Monday evening.

At a town hall appearance in New York City on Friday, Warren told the crowd that, as president, she would pick regulators who would seek to break up what she called "anti-competitive mergers" such as Facebook's recent purchase of Instagram and Amazon's acquisition of Whole Foods.

When asked about how Warren would like to break Apple, she mentioned that, the company runs the App Store which is a platform for developers to sell/share their work while also publishing Apple's own work. The ads included a video touting Warren's recently unveiled proposal to use federal antitrust law to break up tech giants like Facebook, Amazon and Google. In a tweet, the Senator said that the event demonstrates how much power Facebook wields.

However nearly as soon as Politico broke the story, Facebook reversed course. "In the interest of allowing robust debate, we are restoring the ads".

"These big companies exert enormous influence in the economy and in Washington, DC,". "We all use them", the ads read.

Body of United Kingdom climber Tom Ballard is discovered on killer mountain
Mr Nardi, 42, from near Rome, had in the past attempted to reach the summit of Nanga Parbat during winter on several occasions. Nanga Parbat, the world's ninth highest mountain, is nicknamed "Killer Mountain" because of its treacherous conditions.

Facebook very provocatively pulled the senator's ads calling for a big tech breakup, with a lame excuse that the social network's logo was misused in the ads; later Facebook said it would restore the ads but the act of removing them shows the social network isn't afraid of proving Warren's point about having too much power. "But in their rise to power, they've bulldozed competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field in their favor".

A U.S. senator is promoting the break up of technology giants such as Amazon, Facebook and Google as part of sweeping proposed reforms for the sector created to bring it down to size. Thanks for restoring my posts.

"This ad was taken down because it goes against Facebook's advertising policies", the message replacing the ads reportedly read. "But I want a social media marketplace that isn't being dominated by a single censor #BreakUpBigTech".

The presidential candidate would designate those tech giants and any other companies with at least $25 billion in yearly global revenue which "offer to the public an online marketplace, an exchange, or a platform for connecting third parties" as "platform utilities".
