Felicity Huffman, Lori Loughlin indicted in alleged Ivy League college admissions scheme

Loughlin at the Women's Cancer Research Fund's An Unforgettable Evening event in Beverly Hills Calif. on Feb. 27 2018 left and actress Felicity Huffman at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angel

Actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin are among some 50 people charged in the massive scam to cheat on admission to elite U.S. universities that involved bribes, fraudulent test scores and even fake photographs.

From 2011 through February 2019, parents paid an admissions consultant $25 million to bribe coaches and other administrators so their kids would get in.

The list of impacted schools includes Yale, Stanford, the University of Southern California, Wake Forest, Georgetown, UCLA, and more. Both Loughlin and Huffman went through Singer to gain admissions into colleges for their children, authorities said. He's accused of spearheading the scam, including allegedly facilitating cheating on college entrance exams like the SAT and ACT, Photoshopping prospects' heads on athletes' bodies, and bribing admissions officers.

The government claims Huffman "made a purported charitable contribution of $15,000" in order to participate in the scam on behalf of her college-age daughter.

In Louglin's case, the actress and her husband allegedly paid Singer $500,000 to bribe USC officials into admitting their daughters as crew recruits even though neither participated in crew.

The charging documents, unsealed in Boston federal court, are more than 200 pages long.

This combination of pictures created on March 12, 2019 shows U.S. actress Felicity Huffman (L) attending the Showtime Emmy Eve Nominees Celebration in Los Angeles on September 16, 2018 and actress Lori Loughlin arriving at the People's Choice Awards 2017 at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, on January 18, 2017.

Huffman and husband William H. Macy share two daughters: Sophia, 18, and Georgia, 16.

Felicity Huffman, 56, was caught by paparazzi on March 12 - just hours after she was arrested by seven FBI agents armed with guns for her alleged involvement in a nationwide fraud to get students into prestigious colleges - when she prepared to exit the federal courthouse in Downtown Los Angeles.

Macy has not been charged nor have the colleges, which all released statements saying they knew nothing about the scheme.

Yale University and USC said in separate statements they were cooperating with investigators.

Loughlin appeared in the sitcom Full House, and Huffman starred in Desperate Housewives. The indictment says the daughter was given twice the amount of time to take the SAT as other students and the paid proctor agreed to secretly correct her answers afterwards. Representatives for Huffman haven't returned a message seeking comment.
