Google's Gmail and Drive suffer global outages

Google has not yet put out an official statement confirming the issue, or commented on how long the outage would last.

While Google is yet to address issues with Gmail, Downtector.com.au reported on its outage map users along the US's west coast, Japan, India and Australia have all been having issues using the email since about 1.30pm AEST.

"We're investigating reports of an issue with Gmail", the message read. According to Down Detector, Gmail and YouTube started seeing disruptions at 10PM ET on March 12.

Hopefully, Google will quickly solve this issue.

Google Maps also appeared to be experiencing issues, with users who tried to use Street View mode seeing a black screen, instead of images of the location.

In an update on G Suite Status Dashboard, Google noted at 11:43am IST that that both Gmail and Google Drive services have been completely restored.

Affected users were unable to send emails, receiving an error message that said "Message could not be sent". However, some users in India too are reportedly facing issues in accessing Google services. "Check your network and try again".

Some users affected by the outage claim that they are not able to send or receive emails.
