Several school children trapped after building collapses in Nigeria

Lagos begins demolition of marked buildings

Many more children are thought to be inside.

A three-story building collapsed on a primary school in Lagos, Nigeria shortly after the day's classes had begun, sparking fears that many children were killed or are trapped beneath the rubble.

One dust-covered child was pictured being carried out of the rubble, to cheers.

Onlookers crowd around in the densely populated neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital.

They were rescued by residents of the area who gathered the site, as well as officials from Emergency rescue agencies.

As at the time of filing this report, many students are being rushed to the General hospital, Marina, while parents are trooping in to search for their children.

The designs paints a more optimistic picture of the web compared to its creator, who offered a more cynical view of his invention. In the years that followed, Berners-Lee wrote the first HTML language, the HTTP application, and the first web browser.

Emergency and rescue workers are now at the scene of the incident.

The building was in the Ita-faji area of Lagos island, the original heart of the lagoon city before it expanded onto the mainland.

Materials are often sub-standard and there is weak enforcement of regulations, correspondents say.

Tragedy struck, as the three storey building housing a school collapsed, killing and trapping many.

The structure is reported to be a residential building with several apartments.
