Real Madrid agree €50m deal for first summer signing under Zidane

Real Madrid have agreed to sign defender Eder Militao from Porto at the end of the season for his buy-out clause of 50m euros (£42.7m).

The defender, who will join in the summer, is 21 years old and is a full global with Brazil.

The 21-year-old will provide competition for veteran defender Sergio Ramos and World Cup victor Raphael Varane next season, as Madrid look to refresh an ageing squad under Zidane's leadership.

A statement released by Madrid on their official website read: "Eder Gabriel Militao is officially a new Real Madrid player, signing until 2025".

Militao - who can play as a central defender, right-back or defensive midfielder - was also linked with Liverpool and Manchester United.

The player could yet the be the start of a summer splurge at Real after Zinedine Zidane's unexpected return to the club this week.

"He comes to the Whites from Porto, where he has quickly become a star of the team in only his first year in the Portuguese League".

That will mean a significant profit for Porto on a player they signed previous year from Sao Paulo in his homeland. It stands out for its speed, placement and ability to anticipate. He has also played regularly in the Champions League, helping Porto reach the quarter finals for the first time since 2015.
