Tucker Carlson backlash jeopardizes Fox News ad revenue

Tucker Carlson

Caitlin Upton, the contestant Carlson is referring to the in audio, told the New York Magazine in 2015 that the humiliation from the pageant nearly led her to suicide.

She noted that none of the scandalous Carlson audio tapes weren't hard to find, but her researchers did discover that Carlson's name is an anagram of Ol' Cracker Nuts.

Fox News did not respond to Fortune's request for comment.

A total of 34 companies-by Media Matters' count-have cut ties in recent months as a result of numerous comments Carlson has made on his show and elsewhere.

In the segments, Carlson suggested underage marriage is not as serious as forcible child rape, called rape shield laws "totally unfair" and once said he would "love" a scenario involving young girls sexually experimenting. He instead promoted his nightly program, saying in a statement: "If you want to know what I think, you can watch". The co-hosts chimed in: "Good". He attempted to fight back with Media Matters' own tactics, digging up old blog posts from the organization's president Angelo Carusone that Carlson says prove Carusone to be "an enthusiastic bigot".

Activists such as Sleeping Giants have relentlessly targeted the network's TV and online advertisers, part of its mission to hit the profits of outlets it believes promote bigotry and sexism.

Referring to an anti-democratic law that was abolished in 1988, Lee said Na should be referred to the parliament's ethics committee.

"We can not and will not allow voices like Tucker Carlson to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts from the likes of Moveon.org, Media Matters and Sleeping Giants", Fox News said in response to the AstraZeneca move.

"All right, I got to give you a compliment", Hannity said, addressing Carlson.

After the 2007 Miss Teen USA contest, Carlson suggested the pageant host had sex with the SC contestant Caitlin Upton using vulgar terms, according to the audio. He adds that they're "just so terrible".

Carlson refused to cave into leftists demands for him to step down from Fox News though, saying anyone who disapproves of his comments is welcome to disagree with him on his show.

On Tuesday, Carlson praised Fox News for supporting him and stood by his refusal to apologize, vowing "we will never bow to the mob ー ever".
