Myspace loses music uploaded between 2003

Myspace

It's been a year since files on Myspace music stopped being available, but initially the company stated that they were working on the problem, responding to queries with a message that read, "There is an issue with all songs/videos uploaded over 3 years ago".

Reports have emerged that social media platform Myspace has lost a large amount of data, including photos, videos and music, uploaded to the site between 2003 and 2015.

In the affected period, 50 million songs from 14 million artists were uploaded to the website.

Why it matters: Before Facebook, the social network scene was dominated by one name: MySpace.

That relaunch also cleared much of the text content on the site, including "wall posts" between users. Flagrant incompetence may be bad PR, but it still sounds better than 'we can't be bothered with the effort and cost of migrating and hosting 50 million old MP3s, ' " Baio noted.

Adam Lallana Starts - Liverpool Team vs Fulham Confirmed
Fulham look destined for relegation this season as they are in 19th place on the standings and 13 points adrift of safety. Second half we could have finished it off and then it is clear at 1-0 if you don't kill it off that can happen.

The exact number of tracks lost is unclear but people still using the site fear breakout tracks from artists in their early years have been lost forever.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and suggest that you retain your back up copies", it continues.

Even so, the site still has some die-hard users, such as Kenneth Scalir, who told the Guardian in 2018: "Myspace is such a huge part of my life".

Once the most visited website in the United States, Myspace has undergone a series of revamps and ownership changes, most recently purchased from Rupert Murdoch's News Corp by Specific Media in 2011, which was bought by Time Inc.in 2016, which was, in turn, purchased by media conglomerate the Meredith Corporation in 2018.

The popularity of MySpace has decreased over the years, it hit peak popularity in 2006.
