Burger King Is Launching a Whopper with Synthetic Meat

Burger King

The Impossible Whopper is supposed to taste just like Burger King's regular Whopper.

Now Burger King is wading into the booming meat-free market - with a plant-based Whopper that some say tastes like the real thing.

It has been described as the Whopper's "twin" by the burger's manufacturer, and contains 17g of protein and zero cholesterol.

Critics think that Impossible Foods' meatless burger is not necessarily a healthier alternative to a beef burger.

Other ingredients include sunflower oil and heme, a plant-based ingredient that makes the burger "taste like meat", the firm said.

"We took the DNA from soy plants and inserted it into a genetically engineered yeast", Impossible Foods said on its website. Brown said in an interview at Impossible's production facility in Oakland. And carnivores - not vegans or vegetarians - are among the biggest consumers.

Windows 10 May 2019 Update gets official, late-May planned release
New label criteria have also been rolled to aid in the Windows teams use of ML modeling to better differentiate devices. As for the updates themselves, there are efforts underway to better weed out bugs before they become a problem.

Burger King is helping bring meatless meat into the mainstream for vegetarians.

The chain has been trying to figure out a way to add a plant-based burger option to its menu for about a year, admitted Finazzo.

However, The Impossible Burger has not been immune from criticism. Some animal rights activists criticized the burger for testing products on rats. American burger chain had a successful test run of Impossible's meatless burger in September past year. It's not a veggie burger, per se.

Impossible Foods was founded in 2011 by Pat Brown, a former Stanford University professor, who became a vegan soon after college and founded his company with the explicit goal of decreasing the world's reliance on animal agriculture.

It will be available at 59 Burger King restaurants in the St. Louis area, the Times reported, and "the company had plans to quickly expand it to every branch in the country if everything in St. Louis goes smoothly".

"Burger King represents a different scale", he said. It claims the new burger is "tastier, juicier and more nutritious - featuring 30% less sodium and 40% less saturated fat than our current recipe and just as much protein as 80/20 ground beef from cows".
