In response, Google has said that it is "going back the drawing board" and is ending the council.

Rightwinger James has a history of opposing LGBTQ rights, and dozens of Google employees signed a petition in protest at her board membership.

Which is why Google recently made a decision to form an AI Ethics Board to try to provide direction as to what should and should not be done in the machine learning space.

What must have brought about the board's demise was a Monday letter from "Googlers organized against transphobia and hate, " where signatories demanded the company remove board member Kay Coles James, president of the conservative Heritage Foundation.

San Francisco: Following a week of controversies surrounding its composition, Google's external advisory board created to monitor its use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been dissolved after just one week of its formation.

Brexit: UK asks European Union for further extension until June 30
According to British press reports, May is due to write to member states on Friday to lay out her request for an extension. The cross-party talks are risky for both the Conservatives and Labour, with each party split down the middle over Brexit.

"It's become clear that in the current environment, ATEAC can't function as we wanted", Google said Thursday in a statement. The temporary employees have stated that they worked on Google Assistant's voice so it will be available in over 50 languages.

"I am appalled that someone who is so wrong about so many things concerning human and civil rights may be given even more credibility and influence than she already enjoys, by advising such an important company on such a crucial topic like the ethics of AI", Floridi wrote in a Facebook post. After a user asked her whether she felt comfortable working with James, Bryson responded: "Believe it or not, I know worse about one of the other people".

Google said that while the project has been thrown out the window, the online search behemoth will continue to work responsibly in resolving problems acquainted with its use of artificial intelligence. Increased scrutiny and pressure from regular workers and contractors alike pushed Google to require contract firms to offer benefits to employees who temporarily work for the company.

Last year, Google published a set of internal AI principles, the first being that AI should benefit society.
