The Bureau of Labor Statistics declared that the U.S economy provided196,000 extra jobs in March, while the unemployment percentage stayed as it is at 3.8.

Everywhere else, the job market was flat The monthly decline comes on the heels of the best two-month start to the year for Canada's job market in nearly 40 years, with 66,800 new jobs in January and 55,900 in February.

Job creation was a particularly strong suit for the economy past year.

The U.S. stock market responded quickly to the better-than-expected jobs report, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average opened higher on Friday. The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) remained essentially unchanged at 1.3 million, accounting for 21.1 percent of the unemployed.

"This should allow builders to continue expanding [housing] supply at a gradual pace, though labor shortages across the industry remain a concern", Duncan said. Average hourly wages were up 3.2% from a year ago, compared to the 3.4% one-year gain reported in February.

The number of Americans claiming unemployment insurance hit a 50-year low Thursday.

The service sector saw the biggest gains in employment. The Labor Department reported a drop of about 10,000 in jobless claims, bring the overall number to roughly 202,000, the lowest number on record since December 6, 1969.

The Bank of Canada will take these new figures into account as it considers whether to cut interest rates this year. "But a good March report shows that February was more of an outlier than a canary in the coal mine".

Health care added 49,000 jobs in March and 398,000 over the past 12 months. Despite strong denials from Moscow, U.S. and European Union intelligence have accused Russian Federation of election interference in recent years.
