Skype adds screen sharing on iOS and Android

The feature is now available to beta testers only but will roll out globally in a month or less.

The new feature allows users to send a live broadcast of your iOS device's screen to the other participants on a video call. On top of that, Microsoft has yet to announce a rollout date for the feature. But a member of the Skype team has told us it should be rolled out in the official version of the app sometime this month if you can wait just a few more weeks. Thankfully, Skype is bringing the feature to Android and iOS, making screen sharing across platforms easier.

Skype won't be the first of such apps to implement screen sharing among users. Users will be allowed to share anything on their phone display to friends, family, or coworkers. Microsoft suggests this will be useful for sharing PowerPoint presentations, or collaborating with friends as you swipe your way through Tinder matches.

The previously announced screen sharing feature for Skype on iOS and Android is now available in the Skype Insider betas. "Simply tap on ... and select Share Screen to get started". Microsoft which is more concentrating towards small businesses and consumers with this new feature catches up to more business motivated apps like Zoom, Cisco WebEx and GoTo Meeting.
