Focus Mode might be Android's best new feature

T-Mobile is purportedly stocking up on Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones

While all of our eyes will be on Android Q and Google's upcoming midrange smartphones, the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL, Google will also be taking some time to announce improvements/polishments to some of their current services, and maybe even announce some new services.

In particular, the launch of the Android Auto user interface is to be accelerated with the update, which is to be played out over the summer on the entertainment systems of compatible cars. This latest Android Auto update will begin rolling out to supported vehicles/devices this summer.

Android has been componentized since the 2017 Android Oreo, and the effort should start paying off with Android Q. On the security front, Google claimed to scan over 50 billion apps every day with Google Play Protect. With Android Q, you will always receive a notification when a device tries to access your location. In fact, the "more useful information" goal is housed in the overall expanded ability to do more with fewer screen taps.

Also, Google announced that the machine learning that powers Smart Reply is now built into the notification system in Android, allowing any messaging app to suggest replies in notifications. This new feature will allow you to select which apps should be active while the rest are disabled. Users won't be able to open these apps when the mode is enabled. Android Q will be the first operating system to support 5G connectivity. The developer beta for Android Q actually rolled out months ago, so we know a lot of what the update will bring to the table already, but this is the first chance that we have had to see the tenth version of Android in action.

'Country House' not running in Preakness due to health concerns, trainer says
West has said that such an outcome was expected, and he has vowed to file a lawsuit to overturn the stewards' decision. The commission responded that it has no process in place to handle the appeal of stewards' in-race disqualifications.

And, of course, there's a dark theme at long last.

This surely is exciting news for Android, but it's key to remember the scope of this improvement: Compatibility, Security and Privacy. The navigation screen has also been revised allowing users to control both navigation and their music from the same screen.

This a feature Android users have wanted for ages. Users will likely adore the new "dark mode" that blends in better with most cars. Whereas dragging from the bottom slowly will lead them into the multitasking view.

One thing OEMs have done better than Google is their gesture navigation. A new "Privacy" section has been added to Settings in Android, giving more control over location data and permissions. The notification center is also updated and also shows recent calls, messages and alerts. There are also more tools for parents to manage their kids' phone time - it'll let you review how they're using their phone from your own device, set daily time limits, review app requests and more.
