Russian President Vladimir Putin scores eight goals in all-star hockey game

Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken an ugly tumble while celebrating his team's ice hockey win in Moscow.

The Russian chief scored several goals in an exhibition ice-hockey game with former NHL players, but fell while taking a victory lap and tumbled on a red carpet that was placed on the ice.

Whenever Putin straps up the skates and gets on the ice, the world stops as the Russian President dangles around his opponents easily, nearly as if they aren't even trying out of fear of being reprimanded.

After the match, Putin and his teammates were doing a lap of honour, when the President skated into a red carpet on the ice.

Arms control, Venezuela, Iran high on Pompeo's Russia agenda
Pompeo heads to Moscow Sunday, in his first visit to Russian Federation as chief USA diplomat. Pompeo will then travel to Sochi for meetings with Lavrov and Putin on May 14.

Video showed the train missed the red carpet by several inches, making it hard for a ramp to be placed in the right position. This year he played on the "Legends" team alongside Russian hockey stars such as Slava Fetisov and Pavel Bure. His teammate, defense minister Sergei Shoigu, added three goals by all accounts. But why should anyone let basic ability get in the way of Putin burying plenty of tallies in a single outing, which he did on Friday.

Putin, whose approval ratings has slipped in recent years as Russian Federation battles economic woes, periodically plays hockey with government officials, businessmen and former National Hockey League stars in matches that are broadcast with pomp on national television.

Needless to say, if the kids I played against in minor hockey were this bad, I'd be playing for the Montreal Canadiens right now.
