Republicans Slam Rep. Tlaib for Holocaust Remarks

Rashida Tlaib

"In many ways. But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away and it was forced on them", Tlaib said in the podcast. She continued by explaining she was glad her ancestral homeland had become a safe haven for Jews, but the Palestinians had lost "their human dignity", and the situation needed to be rectified. "The reality is that the Arabs in Palestine, Haj Amin el-Husseini, the grand mufti, in Nazi Germany, collaborating and cooperating with the Nazis about what would happen if Rommel's Korps had been successful in Egypt and been present in Palestine- they were considering extermination of the entire Jewish community there as well".

Tlaib, a Democratic representative, said in a recent podcast interview that she supported a one-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

President Donald Trump and House Republicans are criticizing a Democratic freshman for her remarks about the Holocaust and the creation of Israel. "In fact, she repeatedly called the Holocaust a tragedy and a horrific persecution of Jewish people". "And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that...in many ways", Tlaib said.

"Now, calming is at best an awkward word choice in any sentence referencing the Holocaust and one readily made for Republican critics, including the president of the United States", said King to start.

Cheney's quote, meanwhile, says nothing about the "calming feeling" portion of Tlaib's statement at all.

"Democrat Rep. Tlaib is being slammed for her disgusting and highly insensitive statement on the Holocaust".

"The effort to provide a safe haven for people fleeing persecution brought calm to (Tlaib) because her ancestors were involved in helping those tragically impacted by the Holocaust", McCampbell said.

Tlaib also tweeted Sunday night. "All of you who are trying to silence me will fail miserably".

Top takeaways from Blazers-Nuggets Game 7
The sentiment hasn't changed heading into Sunday's Game 7 in Denver . "They had their chances and they just used it smarter". A Damian Lillard 3-pointer gives the Trail Blazers their biggest lead of the game at 81-76 with 8:51 remaining.

"If Netanyahu got up tomorrow morning and decides, 'You know what, I'm going take down the walls. The truth will always win". The statement was made soon after Holocaust Remembrance Day or Yom HaShoah and provoked a robust reaction from US Republicans, calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to "take action". Presidential candidate and senator Bernie Sanders also weighed in.

For many people, the issue is that some lawmakers such as Tlaib utter controversial or highly problematic remarks, then claim others are misunderstanding them or misconstruing them - rather than apologizing, revising or completely rethinking their remarks.

Sanders, the Vermont Independent, said Trump should "s$3 top dividing the American people up by their religion, their race or their country of origin - and stop your ugly attacks against Muslim women in Congress".

"If you read Rep. @RashidaTlaib's comments, it is clear that President Trump and Congressional Republicans are taking them out of context".

While Tlaib's comments were in no way meant to be anti-Semitic, some criticized her for seeing history through rose-colored glasses. "You should take some time to learn the history before trying to rewrite it", he wrote.

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency is seeking clarification from Tlaib's office. "The Arabs refused to recognize the right of the Jews to this state, and the Palestinians certainly aren't willing to recognize it today", she said.

He said the unfortunate choice was to link the Holocaust with a current political situation. It just doesn't! The Post might think that it's implied that Cheney finds the remarks "vile", "sickening", and an instance of "anti-Semitism" because she believes Tlaib was delighting in the Holocaust.

The ZOA had said: "She calls Israel a "racist country" on the basis of the lie that Israel discriminates against those "darker skinned, ' supports the destruction of Israel in favor of an Arab-dominated state ("It has to be one state"), 'absolutely" backs withholding USA aid from Israel, and openly supports the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which is committed to global ostracism and weakening of Israel with a view to its eventual elimination".
