Sung Kang made up nearly 11 strokes on the field on the greens over the 72 holes of the AT&T Byron Nelson, but it was the two-stroke differential on the 15th green that resulted in his first PGA Tour victory, a two-shot win over Matt Every and Scott Piercy, who played 72 holes without a bogey but still didn't win.

The 31-year-old Kang, who now lives in the area while playing on the PGA Tour, got to call his father Sunday to tell him, "I did it", after his getting his first victory in his 159th career start.

Finishing at 23-under 261 total for the tournament, he beat American golfers Matt Every and Scott Piercy who both tied for second two strokes behind.

Every finished with a 66. Piercy capped a bogey-free tournament -the first on the US PGA Tour since 2010 -with a seven-under 64.

Koepka will look to keep the momentum when he defends his PGA Championship title at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York next week.

Every and Kang played all four rounds together at Trinity Forest, including the extended day Sunday after the third round was delayed six hours by rain and they got in only nine holes before play was suspended by darkness.

Frank Lampard: Derby County can do far better
Leeds United beat Derby County 1-0 today in the first leg of their Championship play-off semi-final at Pride Park. Duane Holmes is available after coming off with 20 minutes left at Pride Park.

The Waterford native was level par for the back nine and picked up a birdie at the turn (the first hole) before dropping shots at 4 and five.

Jordan Spieth, without a win since the 2017 British Open and without a top-20 finish this season, was tied for 16th at 10 under. But he was only 1 under through 10 holes when play stopped, his only other non-par hole being a bogey at the par-5 No. 7.

A third-round 68 put Kang at 19 under, three strokes ahead of Every (67) going into the fourth round. "I was telling my caddie I'm really exhausted. As soon as we get to the ball, just concentrate again".

Koepka has four consecutive birdies late in his second round, then started Saturday with birdies on the first two holes.

Kang Sung-hoon poses with his trophy after winning the AT&T Byron Nelson in Dallas, Texas on Sunday.
