Tim Conway, ‘Carol Burnett Show’ star, dead at 85

The actor won Emmys for his work on The Carol Burnett Show in 1973, 1977, and 1978 and a Golden Globe in 1976.

The actor is best known for his work on "The Carol Burnett Show" where he cracked his castmates up with his signature deadpan comic delivery. I cherish the times we had together both on the screen and off.

Conway, 85, has passed away.

Conway died at 8:45 a.m.in the Los Angeles area.

Conway's other most memorable recurring characters included an elderly man whose shuffling pace always caused trouble and Mr. Tudball, a businessman plagued by an indifferent and inept secretary played by Burnett.

He enjoyed success in a series of "Dorf" comedy films and appeared in such movies as The Apple Dumpling Gang, Gus and The Shaggy D.A. He frequently guest-starred on the most popular shows of the day, including Married with Children and Mad About You.

Conway is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlene, and six children from his first marriage, including KFI-AM (640) talk show host Tim Conway, Jr. and his daughter Kelly Conway, who had fought with her stepmother in court over his care.

Fellow laugh makers especially are honoring the funnyman on Tuesday, including Burnett, who said in a statement, "I'm heartbroken".
