Jeremy Kyle show cancelled permanently following guest death

The permanent cancellation of The Jeremy Kyle Show leaves an hour-long slot in ITV's daytime schedule, prompting fans to ponder what will fill the gap.

Mr Dymond took a lie-detector test to convince fiancee Jane Callaghan he had not been unfaithful, but was told he had failed.

The Jeremy Kyle Show followed a similar format to The Jerry Springer Show, confronting guests with topics such as infidelity and paternity.

ITV's CEO, Carolyn McCall, announced on Wednesday: "Given the gravity of recent events we have chose to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show".

DCMS committee chairman Damian Collins said: "ITV has made the right decision to permanently cancel The Jeremy Kyle Show".

ITV, Britain's biggest commercial broadcaster, faced a reputational crisis after it emerged that Steve Dymond, 63, had been reduced to tears on the confrontational talk show.

In light of the controversial circumstances, members of the public have been calling for the show to be cancelled over concerns for how participants are treated and a lack of aftercare for them following their appearances on the programme.

The broadcaster said that it will continue to work with Kyle on other projects.

These included how a husband accused Kyle's producers of fabricating an entire story about his wife cheating - making the couple learn scripts and take a "fake" lie detector test.

Michigan Farmers And The Tariff 'War' With China
Trump a year ago pledged up to $12 billion in aid to farmers - chiefly soybean, wheat and corn growers, and those who raise pigs. That's a much shorter list compared with the $200 billion of Chinese products on which Washington has hiked tariffs.

Kyle was often criticized for his treatment of guests, and one episode showed the controversial host knocked to his knees as a brawl broke out between guests.

As all those blaming the show for insensitively handling mental health issues must themselves know, suicide is rarely a single-factor issue, and frequently the victim is not thinking clearly in their final days. "TV show made innocent man kill himself" is ironically the same kind of simplistic, finger-pointing approach to complex situations that Kyle himself stands accused of.

Before his death, Dymond texted Callaghan to say he could not face life without her, according to The Sun, writing: "I can't live without you".

A powerful committee of MPs has now launched an investigation into reality TV and the support offered to participants after filming.

ITV has also faced scrutiny over its support for reality show participants following the deaths of former Love Island contestants Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis.

The show averages one million viewers per episode - a 22% audience share in the British domestic market.

He could be gearing up to move his show to the likes of Channel 5, which has a history of scooping up former ITV stars, or to launch his own programme with the help of his newly incorporated production company.

ITV said it would offer support to all Love Island contestants rather than just those who ask for it, although the broadcaster's chief executive, Carolyn McCall, said the duty of care can not last indefinitely. All previous episodes were also removed from ITV Hub.
