Bill de Blasio Fires Back at Trump: He’s ‘Low Energy!’

New York City Mayor de Blasio to join crowded Democratic presidential fieldMore

"There's nothing about Donald Trump that surprises me, there's nothing about him that intimidates me", de Blasio said.

A federal criminal investigation did not result in charges against de Blasio but nevertheless found the mayor or his associates accepted contributions from donors seeking official favors and then made inquiries to city agencies on their behalf. There's plenty of money in this country.

De Blasio's constituents have not appeared excited about the prospect of their mayor running for president.

In 2014, de Blasio attended the Island's annual Groundhog Day Ceremony and dropped the animal after its handler put it in his arms. "'Nah, '" read one recent New York Times headline summing up the city's reaction to his possible candidacy.

De Blasio officially launched his campaign that morning with little fanfare - and much mockery.

New York City Mayor and Democratic presidential candidate Bill de Blasio ripped President Donald Trump on Friday morning, calling him a "con man" and a "trickster" who posted a "low energy" video attacking his presidential aspirations. "New York City Police officers are continuing to suffer with wages 30% below market rate because the mayor has totally checked out of our contact process". The mayor is touting his progressive beliefs and experience running the nation's largest city.

"Who hasn't told Bill de Blasio that he shouldn't run for president?" asked New York Magazine.

"Every New Yorker knows he's a con artist. We know his playbook", de Blasio said.

President Trump returned fire at the mayor on Twitter, writing: "The Dems are getting another beauty to join their group". "I look forward to fighting him head on". And you were getting your facts wrong 'cause crime actually has gone down in New York City five years in a row, and our economy is booming, we have the most jobs we've ever had in our history.
