Samsung Galaxy Fold is apparently ready to launch

"We solved most of issues that were brought up with Galaxy Fold." said Vice-President Kim Sung-cheol of Samsung Display during his speech at the commemoration for the 20th anniversary of Korea Information Display Society (KIDS) that was held at Seoul Grand Intercontinental Parnas Hotel on the 18th. Meanwhile, Samsung's Galaxy Fold was praised for its better performance but had the aforementioned screen issues.

A recently uncovered patent application suggests a double fold approach, with a screen that potentially wraps around the edges when folded. No definite date was given as of today. Despite being rigorously tested with over 200,000 folds and unfolds, the Galaxy Fold units have started to show various display problems just days after Samsung had seeded out review units to several media and tech sites.

Certain retailers have already canceled Galaxy Fold preorders because of the apparent lack of a release date.

But it seems the South Korean company is determined to not disappoint.

Wall Street opens slightly higher ahead of Fed's statement
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will likely meet Chinese Vice Premier Liu He ahead of the G20 summit in Japan later this month. Any continued escalations could put the brakes on what is poised to be the longest economic expansion in US history.

Samsung Display, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, is the main supplier of the folding screen. However, another Samsung official revealed later that nothing had been done to prepare for an event this month.

Previously, reviewers found some issues with the Galaxy Fold device despite its great performance. However, the report says, "executives are monitoring the launch and will reduce off shipments if it sells poorly as expected". Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's consumer division, has said that as long as the company remains on the entity list, the laptop will not be able to be launched. But Kim Seong-cheol has some good news for those who want to have the foldable phone.

The Galaxy Fold was originally planned for an April release date in the U.S. before some reviewers reported that their Galaxy Fold review units were malfunctioning.

Huawei's Mate X was unveiled in February but has yet to go on sale. The highly anticipated phone is one of three foldable devices that have been announced since 2018. Rumors are also ripe for a foldable Moto Razr comeback design that will modernize the beloved flip phone.
