Apple expected to release notch-less iPhone as soon as next year

Apple iPhones could have smaller notch in 2020 no notch by 2021 Report

When it comes to Apple insiders no one knows the company's supply chain better than TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and their latest inside reveals some very interesting tid-bits: iPhones will have a smaller notch, but that change will not happen this year, but rather in 2020.

A third report released in early July speculated that Apple is planning to release a China-only iPhone that uses an under-the-screen fingerprint scanner, a cheaper component than Face ID and one that will help bring the price down to appease the cost-sensitive Chinese customer.

That analyst goes on to claim that all three iPhones in 2021 will lack a notch.

Apple could also be working toward eliminating the notch entirely, as a separate report from Credit Suisse indicates its suppliers are developing full-screen displays with no cutouts. It could be similar to Touch ID and would allow the user to touch anywhere on the iPhone's display.

Nintendo Announces the Switch Lite, Coming This Fall
As far as game compatibility, Nintendo revealed that the Switch Lite will be able to play games that support handheld mode. Nintendo notes that there will be support for all existing Switch titles, although some games will have restrictions.

The new range of iPhones are expected to feature OLED displays with varying screen sizes of 5.4-inches, 6.1-inches and 6.7-inches.

Kuo's note suggests that Apple's 2020 iPhones will feature a smaller front-facing camera cutout, therefore reducing the size of the notch. The analyst shared no details as to what design changes to expect, including if the changes will be related to the notch or to the overall form factor. In 2020, the company may give its notch a redesign to make it take up a little less space on that year's iPhone. A new report suggests that Apple would launch four new iPhones in 2020. This means that through this kind of feature, the user can use any part of the notchless iPhone display for authentication.

Such advancements would put the iPhone on a more level playing field with Android rivals like Samsung and OnePlus that have already been minimising the notch. An iPhone could very well have both Touch ID and Face ID - a combination that would offer a suite of benefits to users.

However, Apple is going to add a new camera system along with extra lenses, which is going to have a good camera quality than its predecessors.
