Arsenal appoint Edu as technical director

Former Arsenal player Edu has been appointed as the technical director at the club on Tuesday. His last assignment was at the Copa America, which Brazil won on Sunday.

Edu's role is set to involve working with Arsenal's academy, as well as overseeing scouting and player recruitment. But without more investment in the transfer budget, it is hard to imagine Arsenal landing the men they want this summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have agreed a fee of around £26m with Saint-Etienne for centre back William Saliba but the French club are keen to keep the 18-year-old on loan for another season.

With a new technical director in place, Arsenal will look to strengthen their squad by bringing in necessary reinforcements before the new season kicks off in August. "He understands the club and what we stand for to our millions of fans around the world", said Sanllehi.

Speaking to the official Arsenal website, the Spaniard appeared to be delighted with the appointment, saying: "His arrival is the final and very important part of the jigsaw in our development of a new football infrastructure to take us forward".

Kanye West wants to build 'Star Wars'-inspired low-income housing
West is personally involved in the project, overseeing a team that is putting together the designs for the low cost homes. While his ideas seem far-fetched and even insane to some, it seems that Kanye's creative process has brought him success.

The former Gunners midfielder has left his role as general coordinator of the Brazilian national side to take the job at the Emirates.

"We're very excited that Edu is joining the team", head of football Raul Sanllehi said.

Edu will know Emery well having worked under him as a player at Valencia.

The Egyptian has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League since his £7m move in 2016, and has since found first-team football hard to come by following Unai Emery's purchases of midfielders Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira last summer.

And, according to The Mirror, Arsenal have been presented with the chance to sign Diaz this summer for just £18million.
