Blackhawks acquire Nylander from Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres announced today that they sent forward Alexander Nylander to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Henri Jokiharju.

Both players are entering the second season of their three-year entry-level contracts and will remain under team control for four more campaigns once their current deals expire, according to CapFriendly.

The Swede, the eighth overall pick by the team's old regime in 2016, never showcased the tenacity to match his array of talents. The 21-year-old had 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) in 49 games for Rochester of the AHL. He also showed some promising signs while helping Finland to its fifth world junior hockey title in January.

British US ambassador Darroch resigns over emails criticising Trump
It was also clear that, despite the Foreign Office's protestations, Trump was determined to blackball Sir Kim. Speaking anonymously, another diplomat who's now serving told the Times "it could have been any of us".

Jokiharju is a reasonably hyped prospect as well, and made a smoother transition to the next level with 29 points in 68 games split between the Blackhawks and their minor-league affiliate in his first professional season.

The Blackhawks struggled considerably on the defensive end last season, and might have rushed Jokiharju to some extent. "His global success last season only furthered his development and we are excited to add him to our current group of defencemen".

Jokiharju is the Sabres' sixth right-handed defenseman. No, it's not Rasmus Ristolainen on the move, at least not yet, and it's yet another defenseman into the already-crowded mix at the blue line.
